Job description

Thank you for your interest in joining the MOVE Texas Action Fund Board of Directors! We operate two entities: the MOVE Texas Action Fund which is a 501c4 nonprofit organization and MOVE Texas Civic Fund which is fiscally sponsored by the Alliance for Youth Organizing. MOVE Texas Action Fund is the political arm of MOVE Texas, an organization dedicated to building the political power of young people in underrepresented communities through civic engagement, leadership development, and issue advocacy. This is the application for our 501c4 governing board, MOVE Texas Action Fund.

Please complete this application to give us a bit more insight into your experience, preferences, and ability to fulfill expectations. For more information on what it means to be a MOVE Texas board member, read this board member job description. Applications open on March 27th, 2024. Interviews will occur in mid-late April.

You may NOT apply to both the MOVE Texas Action Fund and MOVE Texas Civic Fund Boards of Directors. Board member terms are for two years from the date of receiving the final board service offer.

Commitments & Expectations

MOVE Texas Action Fund board members have the opportunity and responsibility to serve on at least one and no more than two board committees based on their interests and/or areas of expertise (i.e. Finance, Fundraising, Executive, HR/Personnel). Are you able to commit to participating in at least one of these committees? Which committee do you think you would be most interested in and why?

In addition to committee work, the board of directors participates in quarterly weekday board meetings (4 per year), are you able to commit to attending these meetings?

Fundraising is another opportunity and expectation that comes with service on the MOVE Texas Action Fund Board of Directors. Can you tell us about your connections and experience with fundraising, including grassroots fundraising, foundations, corporate/business sponsorships, or donations?

What is your comfort level with fundraising? Are there any areas in which you might need training that we could help provide (including but not limited to fundraising)? We celebrate a financial contribution of any amount and do expect our board members to be involved in fundraising efforts on behalf of the organization. Financial commitments are individual and there is not a minimum, as we recognize this may be a deterrent of or a barrier for very good candidates. Financial contributions can be directly donated, fund-raised, crowd sourced, or sponsored.
